E-Service Delivery

National Land Information Service (NLIS)

Develop plans to take forward the completion of the land register for England and Wales and the establishment of a National Land Information Service.

The Land Registry has been at the forefront of the development of the National Land Information Service (NLIS). NLIS will delivery a wide range of land and property related information electronically. Initially it is providing integrated land and property information search facilities to support conveyancing in England and Wales.

Land Registry and some local authority searches can now be ordered over the Internet. The commercial service started in Spring 2001. Our main role is as a key supplier of property information. A central government stakeholder group, chaired by the Registry, aims to ensure that the interests of central government are co-ordinated and represented to Local Government Information House, the contract manager of NLIS.
