Inside the Land Registry

Training and development

We completed a two-year programme to train our Senior Management Teams on 3600 feedback, teambuilding and leading change. We have also implemented a development programme for middle managers and staff on operations, customer service and change management. Training is designed and delivered in-house to meet the needs identified through appraisal and Personal Development Plan processes, and training needs analyses.

Two members of staff recently benefitted from the Interchange scheme. One was seconded to the Isle of Dogs Community Foundation where she raised the Foundation's profile with existing and incoming businesses in London's Docklands. The other was seconded to the Prince's Trust where his role was to ensure that Civil Service departments were aware of the Interchange programme and to encourage participation. He also co-ordinated a major recognition event at St James' Palace attended by the Prime Minister and the Prince of Wales.

A selection process is underway for this year's Focus Accelerated Development Scheme from which 18 staff have so far benefited.

Total spending on training was 9.8% of the salary bill of £209,539,025. This reflects our heavy investment in the development of our people.
